Aja LaDuke is a doctoral candidate in the Curriculum and Instruction Department of the Neag School of Education. Her interests include literacy and language development, bilingual education, teacher education, and instruction for diverse learners. Aja graduated from the Neag School of Education Integrated Bachelor's/Master's program in 2002. She taught third grade for two years in Burlington, CT before returning to graduate school. |

Linda is a doctoral candidate in the Exercise Physiology program working with Dr. Carl Maresh. She received a M.A. in Exercise Science and a B.S. in Actuarial Science and Mathematics from the University of Connecticut. Her research interests include thermoregulation, hydration state, and resistance training for endurance athletes. She is currently the fitness consultant for Nerac, in Tolland, CT. |

Ian O'Byrne is a doctoral student at the University of Connecticut studying literacy and technology. He received his Masters of Education from the University of Massachusetts in the 180 Days Program. Ian has taught English Language Arts in both the middle schools and high schools of Springfield and Chicopee Massachusetts. He has served as Adjunct Professor at WNEC in the School of Education. Ian is a Master Teacher in the Intel Teach to the Future program, and has used that experience to create professional development for teachers in his districts. He has been involved in initiatives in his school districts ranging from online coursework, integrating technology in the classroom, school to career, and acting as department leadership. |

Erin Quann is a third year doctoral student in the Exercise Physiology program working with Dr. Jeff Volek, RD. She is a Registered Dietitian and has a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology. Her research interests include optimal nutrition and exercise interventions for obesity and cardiovascular disease. She is currently the Supervisor for Hawley Armory Fitness and Wellness and a past President of NGSA. |

Burcu Kaniskan is a second-year doctoral student in Measurement, Evaluation, and Assessment at the University of Connecticut. She earned her M.A. in Measurement and Evaluation from Kent State University. During her studies there, she was involved in program evaluations in diverse educational settings in Northeast Ohio. Her research interests include multilevel modeling, SEM, mediational analyses, simulation studies, and longitudinal designs for developmental outcomes. She is particularly interested in public health, early prevention of diseases, and health promotion.

Kristina Ayers Paul is a third year doctoral student in Educational Psychology focusing in Gifted Education and Talent Development. She is concurrently pursuing certification in Program Evaluation. As a graduate assistant Kristina coordinates the external evaluation of the Connecticut Department of Higher Education’s Teacher Quality Partnership Grant Program. She also serves as the on-site coordinator for Confratute, a 2-week summer institute for enrichment teaching and learning hosted by the Neag Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development. Her service and research interests include the development and/or evaluation of programs for academically talented students, talent development in adults, and organizational learning.

Rob is a doctoral student in the Curriculum and Instruction program at the University of Connecticut. Prior to UConn he taught school biology for nine years in a high school in Massachusetts. He holds two Master in Education degrees. He attended UMass- Boston, where he received in B.S. in Biology. His interests are in science education, college instruction, and issues of diversity and cultural awareness. Rob's disseratation involves investigating the experiecnes of African American females and Latinas, who are working toward science degrees.

Brandi Simonsen is an Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology at the Neag School of Education. Prior to joining the faculty at UConn, Dr. Simonsen was the director of the Solano Campus of Spectrum Center--a school in the San Francisco Bay Area dedicated to serving students with disabilities who present with challenging educational and behavioral needs. She has also conducted research on AD/HD, consulted with schools and school districts, taught at the University level, and directed Therapeutic Recreation Centers. |
